When a Christian says to you that youre an atheist because you just want to sin, then you can tell by simple logic, that he is an atheist, too, who only claims to be a believer: If he believed in the existence of his all powerful god, he could not see an option to withdraw gods power over yourself by not believing in his existence. This also means - without any alternative - that he sees that the only way god (or rather the idea of god) can have power over you is when you trick yourself into believing in god (it). By holding that logic, he himself at the same time cannot believe in god but only see god as an idea for other people to believe in to make them behave in a certain way.
